My dog, my gaywitchmas tree and the weird/amazing pirate ship that lives behind the couch in my living room make important cameo appearances in Dara’s cancer vlog. (My roommate did a pirate performance art piece, which is why we have the ship—I think it lends a little thanksgiving hilarity while Dara breaks down why Thanksgiving is a really complicated holiday that celebrates genocide.)
CANCER VLOG #5: WHAT THANKSGIVING & CANCER HAVE IN COMMON Dara Barlin is interviewed by the world renown pawsitive Macy on the commonalities between Thanksgiving and cancer. Thanks to D. Schiff for the set design/ship backdrop.
I find it very therapeutic to hold both cats at once and they don’t mind because they snuggle anyway. All Muppets were really pissed that I tried to add Macy.
I me this tender black and white shih tzu baby this weekend at Petsmart and we had a moment with a little pet and cuddle and they looked at me so longingly through the window after I left! And now I can’t stop thinking about them. I want them to have a wonderful home. Also they were hanging out with a pug and a maltepoo from the same rescue. MY HEART BURSTS. www.brooklynanimalfosternetwork.org
My roommate brought home a piglet. This is a video of my dog Macy meeting Penelope. The pig makes such cute noises!

Macy meets a giant stuffed shih tzu. Antics ensue. You can buy the giant shih tzu from SITE NYC in Astoria. I’m pretty sure Mackenzi bought it for her store because of Macy.
My dog Macy in a tiny shopping cart. Part of my week of intentional silliness.
Last night Macy and I attended the SITE NYC Holiday preview event (that’s the awesome store owned by my bestie Mackenzi). It was rad and I scored a cool glittery clock Christmas ornament to put on my altar as a reminder to treat every moment as sparkly and precious. I also got some wall clings to acknowledge the four elements, a diamond, octopus, bird and a campfire (earth, water, air, fire).
Kelly Cutrone’s book (which I highly recommend) says you should cultivate your own spirituality that reflects your personality. If my spirituality cannot involve foolishness it’s not for me.
